Latino singer Giju’s album launch in India at Ramee International on June 23rd 2007

Giju performed live at this event and he was joined in by singer Hema Sardesai and rockers Dimitri and Nitish Pires. Hema has been out of media attention for sometime but surprisingly she has been silently active in her work without making any buzz about it. Hema Sardesai was presented the ‘International Award for Women Achiever’ by spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at Bangalore. The award, instituted by Sri Sri Ravishankar’s Art of living Foundation, was given to the Goan singer last week during the International Women’s Conference at the AOL Bangalore ashram. Anaida and Baba Sehgal seem they had something in common as they spoke extensively about music and we also got a hint that they could be getting together on a reality show. Now that would be interesting. In spite of the heavy rains the music launch went on without any hassles.

Who is Giju:

Salsa Mania is ranked the 3rd biggest Salsa troupe in the world. And Giju an Indian based in San Fracisco is part of this troupe. Giju for the first time has released in India through Raga 2 Rock Records. An innovative world music vocalist, producer and world-class Salsa dancer, Giju has enthralled audiences with his versatile and energetic style and even called the Ricky Martin of India.

Giju promises to be one of the most compelling and captivating performers to hit the Indian music scene with his first album, “Rang Rangeeli” meaning “Color Colorful”. The video, successfully debuted at the San Francisco World Salsa Congress. Given the universal appeal and growing popularity of Salsa, audio and video CD are expected to be well received by the market at large. “Rang Rangeeli” is Giju’s debut album with eight original songs in Hindi, including a duet with the renowned playback singer Sadhana Sargam. Collaborating on the album are composer Benny Johnson and lyricist Swati Sinha thereby creating a catalyst for a unique and evolving style of musical expression. The title song titled, ‘Rang Rangeeli’ – meaning Color Colorful – is set to a salsa-pop style rhythm, with a beautiful weave of Hindi and Spanish lyrics. The theme of the song is about truly living one’s life to the fullest extent. It emphasizes the need of pursuing one’s dreams and cherishing friendships.
