Giju Performs Live on ESPN - World Salsa Championships
Giju Bids Adieu to SalsaMania Pro-Team
If you've never attended this event, it's definitely one to put on your Salsa experience to-do list. Over 400 contestants from 34 different countries competing for top spots at the World Salsa Championships - held at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando. The best of the best from around the globe lit the stage on fire with electrifying performances in an attempt to earn the top positions.
Giju competed with his team SalsaMania, which had been rated in the top three in the past world championships. Even though the team didn’t place in the top positions this year, they left a major impression on thousands of supporters and fans from around the world.
This was a very personal performance for Giju. In 2007, he announced that after 7 years of participation as an integral member of the professional dance company "SalsaMania" - he would be leaving his team-family to more fully pursue his music and dance career.
The World Salsa Congress was his final "competitive" performance with SalsaMania as a pro-team member. However, Giju and SalsaMania will continue to work in joint effort to continually evolve Salsa in their well known trademark fashion - marked by high standards of performance, technique and creativity.
Be sure to join us at Alberto's Nightclub on January 25th for Giju's first official Salsa Social and SalsaMania farewell celebration!!

New Music Video Project in 2008!!
PLUS BEHIND THE SCENES: "Rang Rangeeli" Music Video
View Montage On Right
After the successful release of his first Music video, shot to the title song of his album – Rang Rangeeli Yeh Duniya – Giju is already in discussions once more with Bay Area film Director, Celso Bulgatti - with plans to start working on his next video to his song track “Dhundoon Tujhe”. After taking his audiences through the unique milieu of Salsa and Indian Pop in his first video; he is now ready to introduce them to the high energy music style of Cha-Cha-Cha!!!
This project will be a cross-over music video featuring Latin dancers from India and the U.S. As we begin the pre-production phase, this video project already looks very promising. The highly energetic music, electrifying choreography, dance talent and beautiful locales all combine to take Giju's vision to a whole new level.
All of his fans and supporters are eagerly waiting for this next offer from Giju. =D

Giju's Travelogue
Florida is very close to my heart as that’s my first “homestate”, if I may, after arriving in the US. I attended USF, Tampa, to complete my M.S. degree. And, that’s where the World Salsa Championships were held this year.
The World Salsa Championships – a venue where the crème de la crème of Salsa dancers from all over the world come to showcase their skills and test out who has got the best routine and best performance for the given year. This highly revered event was held in Orlando, the land of Disney, at the Coronado Springs Resort. Over 400 participants from 34 different countries danced their hearts out to impress a panel of world renowned judges and thousands of screaming fans. The fact that it was covered by ESPN for worldwide telecast only augmented the pressure on all dancers. Years of relentless practice and hard work culminated in that one night…!!! Scary indeed..!!
It was an amazing experience to participate in this event with my group, SalsaMania Dance Co., and for the third time in a row. I was also roped in by Albert Torres and his partners to do an exhibition performance during the finals, showcasing my recently released album. It was a remarkable opportunity for me to present my music to such outstanding members of the world Salsa community!!
I performed “Rang Rangeeli Yeh Duniya” live on stage joined by fellow SalsaMania dancers. The stupendous response that I got from the viewers solidified my faith in the power of music to transcend language and cultural barriers. The unique combination of Latin and Indian music in my song seemed to work well with the crowd.
Check out the link under the photo to read a wonderfully detailed and moving synopsis of the competitive Salsa performance events by beloved Salsa compatriot Dakin Ferris.
A few of us decided to stay for an extra day and explore one of the Disney parks. We hung out at the MGM park on Sunday. It was pretty relaxing, even though some of the rides were hair-raising!
I have a lot of great friends still in Florida and I wish I'd had more time to visit with them, too. Almost all of them live further south in the Tampa and Miami region... I'm going to have to make another trip to do just that.
